Asian Envy is an electro synth duo with 2 albums available here http://store.asianenvy.com/
Asian Envy formed in Tokyo, Japan in 2008 with the purpose of creating electro dance/pop music with elaborate accompanying videos.
Their first album was recorded in a self constructed studio in Melbourne, and mastered in the acclaimed Woodstock Studios. The duo have been commended on the mainstream quality of their production values, in spite of such humble origins.
Their second album, 'Everyone [Except You]', was written and partly recorded in the USA and includes a multitude of collaborators.
The album is a more eclectic arrangement, using violin, flute and guitar in addition to Asian Envy's trademark synths. An opera singer even makes an appearance on 'The Visitor'.
Asian Envy are so called in homage to their love of all things Japanese, particularly the distinctively outrageous fashion and culture in certain Tokyo provinces.
Their music, however, draws influence from edgy electro pop such as Justice, Jaytech, Rufus and The Presets, although noticeably more 80’s inspired.
The duo also launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for their next music video ‘The Wolf’ – another instalment in the ongoing narrative.
The pair are aiming to raise $6,000 by Valentine’s Day, and are so far a quarter of the way there.
