PRESS RELEASE "Ascend"
The Stunning new album from electro-pop duo 'Shelter' released on the Ministry Of Pop label June 2016 via Crowdfunder UK (physical) & Worldwide (digital) July 2016. 11 x soaring retro-electro pop tracks to move the mind body & soul. "In May 2014, Shelter wrote, produced & released Erasure's legendary frontman Andy Bell's 3rd studio album "iPop". "iPop" peaked at Nr. 47 in the iTunes pop album charts, nestled just beneath Michael Jackson & Adele & above McFly & Paolo Nutini, no mean feat for a home-grown pop act's debut. Ascend is the follow-up album to Shelter's debut album 'emerge' which was released November 2014 shortly before they embarked on their 8 x date support slot for Erasure's Violet Flame Tour spanning the UK, Germany & Denmark in December 2014. Not long after that, the guys scored Nr. 9 in the Commercial Pop Club Charts with their track "with u" [feat. Frankmusik] who produced Erasure's 'Tomorrow's World' album. "with u" was remixed by legendary grammy award winning US Producer Dave Aude (boasting in excess of 100 US Billboard Nr. 1's for everyone from Yoko Ono, Depeche Mode, Lady Gaga to Bieber & Mark Ronson). The guys are regularly playlisted on radio in UK, Germany & Denmark, France & the U.S. Their track 'fierce' was voted Dave Charles's Nr. 6 in his Top 50 of 2015 whilst their collaboration with Erasure's Andy Bell & Vince Clarke on 'Lift Me Up' from iPop was simultaneously his track of the year on Harborough FM. As well as performing live on Danish Radio & for Phoenix FM with Rob Harvey, Shelter have supported 'De-Vision' at BAS in 2015 alongside Empathy Test & Tenek. They have also more recently performed at Synthwest alongside Vile Electrodes & in France alongside Sinestar, Model Depose, Waiting for Words, Shiny Darkness, Pulse & Kid Casio and at Synthetic Xmas with Johnny Normal, The Department & Future Perfect. Shelter have already worked with and collaborated with many artists & producers such as MESH, DJ Ram, Matt Pop, Rob Dust, Dancing With Ruby, Vince Clarke & many more as well as some new remix work for Andy Bell's Torsten "Variance 2" album and the new Conzoom Records compilation release both as artists and remixers plus more collaborative works already in the pipeline. "Ascend" is the band's evolutionary tale spanning a spectrum of uplifting & emotionally charged themes. The Shelter boys feel "Ascend" is a bit more 'grown up' than its predecessor as their own writing and production prowess has become more finely tuned this second time around. With fewer collaborations than 'emerge', Shelter hope to continue down their 'truer to themselves' road moving forward and to continue on their voyage of self-discovery, refining their sound and identity within the exciting electro-pop landscape. Their Crowdfunder Campaign for "Ascend" hit its target within 2 days of being live and is continuing to attract pledgers.
‘Shelter’ were national regional finalists in Future Music Publishing’s National Song writing Competition from over 8,000 entries. They have supported many established acts at large outdoor events (30,000 +) such as Liberty X, Tina Cousins, Charlotte Church, The Latch, Hazell Dean, Sleaze Sisters and many more. 5 #1’s so far on USA’s first internet charts Soundclick and they have released retro cover of Sir Cliff’s ‘Wired for Sound’ featuring Darren Day on vocals with great press reviews. Previously signed to Cream Records (Germany) & Optimum Records (UK) have just written and produced a collaboration album 'iPop with Erasure's Andy Bell and are now extremely excited to be one of the confirmed support acts for Erasure's forthcoming Violet Flame tour.
Shelter are crowdfunding to produce two CDs: Shelter's debut album 'Emerge' and a limited edition Andy Bell CD containing four singles and remixes from the 'iPop' album.
We know that many fans attending the shows still prefer a physical and collectable CD to a digital download so we want to give these fans the opportunity to buy a special limited edition CD of our debut album 'Emerge' in advance of the tour. We are also going to press a limited edition Andy Bell CD containing four singles from our collaboration album iPop plus a selection of our favourite remixes of these singles, namely, Beautiful, Stars, Friend and Lift Me Up.
Both CD's are ready to go to press. Our debut album 'emerge' is brimming with 15 tracks of our unmistakable electro pop sound, both solo Shelter tracks and our collaborations including two brand new and previously unreleased iPop club mixes featuring legendary Erasure front man Andy Bell. So we are crowdfunding to raise the money to produce these CDs.
Things are really starting to take off for us this year but with just the two of us managing the whole end to end operation we know that we need funds to buy in essential help to keep the momentum going. We plan to reinvest any surplus proceeds from this crowd funding campaign straight back into Shelter and our own independent Ministry of Pop record label so we can continue to grow and deliver great music.
Depending on how successful the campaign is, our first priority is the release of our Andy Bell collaboration album 'iPop' on CD when we get the green light from Erasure HQ. We also hope to have funds to employ pluggers to promote our music in clubs and radio stations to improve our chances of breaking into the charts. Our network of freelance producers and video production companies have been incredible in helping us get this far and we really want to involve them more in the future to help us expand the operation.
