Jay aka Isunray : Regarding connections: my oldest friend from school is Raymond Hayter ( Pacific Deep ) brother in law so..I guess we're like family. Raymond helped me rediscover my love synth pop and production by asking for a little help on his remix for Nova Pulsar in his song Trampa del Diario Vivir recently. It was so easy to collaborate with him that we then wrote our 1980's tribute "The Young Ones" and recently "Night Riders". The songs usually start from a bass/drum groove and some general synth guides from me and we build them up from there through Reason. Vocals and harmonies are done by me and once we've finalised the mix Raymond does the final master. One song generally takes us a week to work up from scratch and we collaborate through Dropbox. He's a true gentleman to work with and a lovely man to boot.
My connection to Stereospread (James and Sara) came from them hearing "The Young Ones". They asked me do a remix of their wonderful song "Run". I had a lot of fun with their song and took it in another direction. They were kind enough to post that "we are VERY impressed with what isunray brought to our track. we're actually kind of worried the final version of our song won't hold up to this remix!!!! :) we are such huge fans!@" - I was very touched by their comment. Since then I've contributed fretless bass, synths and drum programming to their upcoming song "Who Am I?" and they are in return working on a remix of my isunray song "I Adore You". We collaborate through We Transfer. They are both in North Carolina. They are also a true pleasure to work with.
Raymond and I both have a policy of commenting on everyone who comments on us (as well as others whose music we find) and have a positive only comment policy. In short we want to be a positive influence and encourage others who enjoy making and creating music.
Stereospread, Pacific Deep and isunray have all got to know each other musically through Soundcloud and can attribute this site to helping us grow and develop as songwriters and musicians.
STEREOSPREAD is an electropop band and production team based out of Western North Carolina. Their music might be described as intoxicating electronic pop music that evokes the full spectrum of human emotion.
The band’s members are James Hopkins and Sara Snyder. Sara and James were introduced via a mutual production friend’s post on Facebook. Their connection was instantaneous and one month later, they pooled together enough money between them to buy James a one-way ticket from Florida to NC. A return ticket was never needed… James and Sara worked side by side writing music that reflects the ups and downs of falling in love and beginning a life together, coining the name STEREOSPREAD along the way.
Isunray is Jeremy (Jay) Hay. isunray came together early 2007 in Lower Hutt, New Zealand as a duo and featured multi-instrumentalist/producer Jeremy Hay and vocalist Jade Eru.
With Jade “isunray” made a classy soul pop sound and were likened to Eurythmics, Kate Bush and Alicia Keys.
isunray released their EP "Balancing Act" in 2012 (now available through iTunes). This was the first isunray release not produced by Jeremy Hay with the mantle being taken by multiple grammy nominated New York based producer/drummer Ron Thaler.
Since April 2013 isunray is just Jay working either working solo or with willing and likeminded collaborators like Raymond Hayter and the wonderful Stereospread. isunray now fully explores Jays love of synths and electro pop....though there is a rumour of a cover of "Ceremony" by New Order where some post-punk roots will be explored.
